WHY DOES THIS MATTER?

The ELCA has infringed on congregational autonomy in multiple places across the country – taking over congregational assets and property, replacing duly elected church councils, and inserting themselves into the pastoral call function by use of various synodical administration provisions and by threatening rostered pastors with derostering.

THE IMPACT:

These changes in the ELCA have already affected real congregations and pastors. In response, the Lutheran Congregational Support Network (LCSN) has analyzed ELCA documents, interviewed pastors, and sought extensive legal counsel regarding the ELCA's shift. The core issues are:

  • Who controls your governing documents?
  • Does your congregation have sole control over its property?
  • Is your pastor free to say what s/he believes?

LEARN THE FACTS.

To help you understand the intricacies of what is happening in the ELCA, the LCSN created a three-part video series. Each video focuses on a different key question.
